PGS Subtitles

Why SUP subtitles need converting

Blu-ray discs store subtitles as pictures of the text, in a format called PGS. Saved on their own they become .sup files. A Blu-ray player shows them fine, but most editors, video sites and many TVs and media servers only take text subtitles such as SRT.

This converter reads the words in each picture with optical character recognition (OCR) and writes them into an SRT file, with every subtitle at its original time. A line that appears more than once is read once, so long films convert faster.

How It Works

How to convert SUP to SRT

Step 1

Pick the language

Choose the language the subtitles are in. When the file name says it, as in Movie.fre.sup, it is picked for you.

Step 2

Add the SUP file

The converter finds every subtitle picture and reads its text, several at a time.

Step 3

Check and download

Look over any lines marked to check, then download the SRT with the original timing.
