Cantonese captions in Final Cut Pro
Why editors are looking for Cantonese subtitles
Final Cut Pro does not generate captions automatically, which means Cantonese subtitles typically arrive as an SRT imported into a subtitle role or as manually typed titles on the timeline. Getting Cantonese line breaks right matters — CJK text has no word spacing, so transcripts rarely break at natural reading positions without deliberate review. CaptionX is being designed to produce Cantonese SRT files with line breaks already set for Final Cut Pro import.
Final Cut Pro renders Cantonese characters correctly when the project font supports CJK, but line-break quality depends entirely on the source SRT. For content with dense Cantonese dialogue — interviews, tutorials, or corporate video — poor line breaks in the subtitle track add a manual review step that slows delivery.
CaptionX is being designed to generate Cantonese SRT output with line breaks placed at natural phrase boundaries — not mid-word and not based on character count alone. The goal is a subtitle track that reads clearly in Final Cut Pro without requiring a manual line-break pass across every clip before delivery.
