Chinese captions in DaVinci Resolve

Why editors are looking for Chinese subtitles

DaVinci Resolve supports subtitle tracks for long-form projects, but it has no built-in speech recognition for Chinese — subtitles need an SRT file before they can be imported into the Edit page. For documentary, corporate, and narrative projects with dense Chinese dialogue, generating and cleaning that SRT manually adds real time to the post workflow. CaptionX is being built to produce Chinese SRT files that are ready for DaVinci Resolve subtitle track import.

DaVinci Resolve's subtitle track handles Chinese characters reliably when a CJK-compatible font is loaded in the subtitle style — but line-break quality depends entirely on the imported SRT. For long-form Chinese projects like documentaries or corporate interviews, poor line breaks mean editors need to manually review every subtitle clip in the Edit page, which is slow at scale.

CaptionX is being designed to generate Chinese SRT files where line breaks already follow natural phrase boundaries, so the DaVinci Resolve subtitle track requires minimal editing before delivery. The goal is a subtitle import that passes a professional QA review without requiring an editor to manually correct every clip in the Edit page.
